What's it like being a concert photographer? Unrehearsed, controlled chaos, a ballet & a stampede as we dance around our peers in a photo pit, looking for the perfect angle at the perfect moment, constantly processing visual data points - placement of the artist on stage, mic stands & other obstacles, ever-changing stage lighting & exposure settings.

And most of all what musicians are doing - anticipating what might come next, taking cues from the music, their faces, their instruments. Compose and take the shot when it all comes together then do it all again. It's pretty intense, it's exciting, it's my happy place.

Waiting for the emotion of the music to transfer through the body of the musician, and capturing that unique moment, is what it's all about.
